Ms. Mason specializes in regulatory energy law with an emphasis on energy supply, procurement and cost recovery. She also counsels clients on issues related to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
Prior to Opterra, Ms. Mason was an attorney at Pacific Gas and Electric Company and represented the utility in proceedings before the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). Her practice focused on the Renewables Portfolio Standard (RPS) program, including issues related to RPS compliance, policy, planning and procurement. This work involved drafting advice letters, collaborating on procurement plans and compliance filings, tracking legislative changes, commenting on CPUC and party filings, and working on utility-owned generation applications and proceedings. Ms. Mason began her legal career at Farella Braun + Martel LLP in San Francisco, where she practiced business litigation.
Ms. Mason’s prior experience as a technical recruiter built on her ability to connect easily and quickly with others, ask thoughtful questions, and listen carefully with empathy. Her practices leverages these skills with her innate curiosity and careful attention to detail to deliver strong results for her clients. By understanding her clients’ goals and priorities, Ms. Mason can provide strategic advice and strong representation.
Ms. Mason earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from U.C. Hastings College of the Law and her B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University.
